Preparation

I know these are obvious things, but it doesn’t hurt to remind you: make sure you eat, drink, and use the bathroom before RPS starts. Minimize interruptions as much as possible. About 10-15 minutes before the event starts, close/force close any other apps you’re using and restart your phone.

Make sure you maximize your boost before the event begins. You won’t want to run booster ads when you could be throwing! Some people don’t run 2 AB ads while they throw.

Most importantly, make sure you have an excellent connection. Lag could prevent you from throwing.

Minigames are free to play, though will require an ad between plays.

Starting The Event

RPS officially starts when you see the RPS icon follow you. Screenshot forthcoming.

If you tap this icon, this takes you into the RPS event. Tap the button at the bottom to play. The system will randomly assign you a thrower. It will do its best to match you with someone who has a similar number of wins as you do, though sometimes it matches you against a top thrower, even if you only have a few wins.

How To Play

The goal is to win three rounds of RPS. Pick rock, paper, or scissors. Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, and paper beats rock. If you tie, you’ll keep playing rounds until one of you wins three of them.

Optimal Strategy

The following is the strategy that was given to me from MexicanSavage. However, this is only useful to getting into top 50 to top 100. If you want to rank higher, you’ll need to learn to read your opponent and counter them.

  1. Start with either rock or scissors. Unless you know your opponent well, avoid starting with paper.
  2. Whether you win or lose, throw something differently randomly until the score is either 0-2, 1-1, or 2-0.
  3. If the score is 0-2, then let your timer run out and purposefully lose the match. Save your time for a new match.
  4. If the score is 1-1 or 1-2, repeat what you played at the start. If you tie, throw randomly until the score is either 2-2 or 2-1.
  5. If the score is 2-2, 2-1, or 2-0, choose whatever your opponent played last and repeat it until the game ends.
  6. If your opponent played something 2-3 times in a row, chances are they won’t repeat again. For example, if they throw rock 2-3 times in a row, throw scissors to protect yourself if they switch to either paper or scissors. For repeated paper, throw rock. For repeated scissor, throw paper.
  7. To throw randomly, get yourself a 6-sided die. If you roll 1 or 6, throw rock. 2 or 5, throw paper. 3 or 4, throw scissors. Roll for each throw. You can also use this strategy if none of the other steps work for you. Or you can just use this.

Exiting RPS

You can skip part of the “results” animation if you keep tapping the bottom of your screen where the “OK” button exists. This will save you a few seconds each match, allowing you to do a few extra matches.

Ranking

Your rank in RPS depends on the number of matches you win. If there is a win tie between throwers, the thrower who got their first will rank higher.

If you want to win the top prize, you’ll need to play the entire time. However, sometimes you can’t do that. If you are a proficient thrower, consider going for bottom 1500 for a small payout. This will help you minimize time cost and earn you a decent payout while you practice your skills to take one of the top 100 spots.

Finally, if you want to minimize the number of matches you do, aim for the bottom of your target tier. However, the number of wins you will need depends on the number of participants. The more people there are, the more times you will need to win. However, more participants also mean a larger prize pool. Obviously, if a RPS event exceeds one or two hours, more wins will be required to keep your rank.
